Database Development Engineer

Bay Area

10gen is looking for a kernel engineer who can help maintain and drive our Java and Database technologies. This position is located in the SF Bay Area (mid-peninsula). This is a ground floor opportunity on the west coast, to join a fast growing company with a fast growing product with ample room for growth.

About you:

  • You want to be part of a great team building the most significant database innovation in decades
  • You consider yourself a guru in Java and/or C++
  • Strong Systems (Unix/Windows Kernel) or Database Kernel background (MySQL, Oracle)
  • Some experience as a framework developer with Java (Hibernate, iBATIS), C++ (Boost) and JavaScript (node.js) ecosystems
  • You think writing unit tests is critical for great software
  • What you don't have in experience, you make up by being curious
  • You don't mind covering ground that has not been covered before, yet your education has prepared you with a solid CS background
  • You're flexible, joining a small team, so you're willing to take on a wide variety of responsibilities
  • You are well organized, used to keeping many balls in the air at the same time

Your Duties:
  • Enhance and support the Java driver and database functionality
  • Improve performance and reliability
  • Ensure best possible integration with existing Java eco systems
  • Take leadership in working with with our (fast growing) community
  • Innovate, innovate and innovate :-)

Requirements:
  • 2-3 years of Java and C++ experience
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (JavaScript, Ruby, Python) and with MongoDB a big plus
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience with Driver Development (JDBC, ODBC) a plus
  • BSc in Computer Science, MSc in Computer Science a plus

Support Engineer

Bay Area

10Gen is looking for a Senior Support Engineer to support the rapidly growing MongoDB community and help drive customer success. This is a ground floor opportunity on the west coast to join a company with a fast-growing product and ample room for growth. This position is located in the SF Bay Area (mid-peninsula).

About you:

  • You love to tackle the most complex and gnarly technical issues
  • Passionate about customer service and making the customer successful
  • What you don't have in experience, you make up by being curious
  • You're flexible, joining a small team, so you're willing to take on a wide variety of responsibilities
  • Well organized, used to keeping many balls in the air at the same time

Your duties:
  • Monitor Customer and Community support Forums
  • Troubleshoot, create and communicate solutions
  • Write scripts to reproduce issues
  • Add articles to our documentation and knowledge base
  • Develop internal knowledge of best practices and deployment architectures

Requirements:
  • 2-3 years of support experience in an enterprise environment
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Great interpersonal skills: You work easily with customers and developers alike
  • Demonstrated ability to gather relevant information and diagnose issues effectively and efficiently
  • Experience with Database Systems (Oracle, MySQL)
  • Experience with ticketing systems (Jira, Zendesk, Bugzilla)
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Ruby, Python) and with MongoDB a big plus
